Our Environmental Social Governance team seeks to build a better working world by helping businesses and governments respond to societal, environmental and economic challenges. They help businesses understand and evaluate the broader value impacts and outcomes associated with their organizations, operations, programs and projects. Our global team is multidisciplinary and combines our core knowledge in accounting and reporting with knowledge in technical and regulatory sustainability issues.
Our teams help clients improve and report on their sustainability performance. Specifically, we help clients manage emerging risks, and reduce costs through the design and implementation of systems and processes and leverage opportunities in areas such as climate change, environment management, health and safety, labor rights, non-financial reporting, and supply chain.
The opportunity
EY has a well-established ESG practice to respond to our client’s growing need of guidance in this area, including ESG strategy, sustainability/non-financial reporting and/or regulatory reporting, EHS and environmental management, circular economy, sustainable finance etc.
Our ESG team is growing exponentially, and as a Senior you’ll play a key role in that growth. We are looking to expand our team of professionals focused on providing high value, independent, trusted advice to our clients as they transition to a more sustainable economy.
We are at the forefront of current trends in climate change and sustainability and we engage with clients at all levels to provide insight into these developments. We want candidates who are dedicated and capable of helping us to develop our dynamic sustainability practice that is focused on making the difference for our clients, as they navigate this agenda, and the society at large.
Your key responsibilities
In this role you will work as part of a wider team to support business development efforts, win project work and advise EY's clients on sustainability advisory, assurance and related services.
There are a wide range of exciting projects that you will be able to get involved in. You will work with clients at all levels to help them navigate the ESG agenda. You will:
- Support organizations in defining and implementation of ESG strategies
- Perform regulatory compliance checks (NFRD, EU Taxonomy, CSRD, SFDR, etc.)
- Conduct ESG due-diligence;
- Assist organizations on how they manage and report on socio-economic value creation or sustainability information, including non-financial reporting (GRI, TCFD, SASB etc. standards), greenhouse gas emissions, responsible supply chains, climate risk;
- Identify and communicate relevant trends, developments and key performance drivers relevant to the client and its industry;
- Collaborate with the Managers and the Partners to execute a ESG strategy that satisfies high client expectations, support the planning, execution and delivery of the engagements;
- Contribute actively in the ESG engagement team to understand and respond to the client's needs and expectations and develop a client-focused, clear, accurate and well-presented work product;
- Ensure work is delivered in a timely manner and in compliance with EY high standard requirements;
- Assist in developing new opportunities related to new ESG projects and relationships;
- Contribute to the development of the ESG team supporting junior members and leading by example.
Skills and attributes for success
- Ability to analyze complex or unusual issues in the context of client ESG engagements and deliver insightful and pragmatic solutions
- Proven track record in managing large and complex sized projects
- Undertaking a key account management role for major key clients
- Excellent business development skills
To qualify for the role you must have
- Passion, knowledge and interest in sustainability and ESG topics
- A degree, preferably in ecology, engineering, circular economy, climate change, or other sustainability related discipline
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practice in area of technical discipline
- At least 5 years of experience in a large and dynamic organizations
- Consulting experience in the following areas: sustainability, circular economy, climate change and other related ESG topics
- Extensive experience working and leading in a team-based environment
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills
- Strong project management and personnel management skills
Ideally, you’ll also have
- Professional presence with the ability to engage management level clients as well as internal leadership stakeholders
- Ability to analyze complex or unusual issues in the context of client engagements and deliver insightful and pragmatic solutions
- Experience in similar roles in FMCG, Financial Services or Energy and Utilities industries will be a plus!
